How It All Started

CultureValue, LLC is a consulting firm birthed in the mountains of western NC and inspired by the spirit of community building and the persistence of the community effort. Community is made up of individual people as well as the various churches, schools, non-profits, and for-profit organizations. The ways each of those organizations show up in a community creates a culture, and can either support creating a more equitable community culture, or work to prevent it.

Where do you and your organization stand?

CultureValue guides organizations through a journey of exploring their role in being part of creating equitable communities. We support teams in creating an organizational culture that can obtain and maintain a diverse workforce, be responsive and culturally competent to its client base and stakeholders, and carve out and strengthen its position of industry leadership utilizing an equity lens.

About Danaé

Danaé Jones Aicher is the Founder and Principal of CultureValue, LLC, an Equity, Inclusion and Belonging firm that supports organizations committed to aligning their stated values with the practiced values. Danae has the reputation of being an experienced Equity and Inclusion consultant and facilitator with a gift for creating brave spaces for people to address difficult topics within their organizations. A former mass communications professional with a degree in History and more than 20 years of experience in news, politics and public relations, she utilizes all of her experience to help teams understand how oppressive systems and policies replicate and perpetuate themselves in an ongoing cycle unless they are intentionally interrupted.

In addition to facilitating workshops and trainings for school teams, non-profit organizations and businesses, Danaé served as the Equity Director at Rainbow Community School, a holistic independent school in Asheville, NC, supporting the school in a very intentional effort to transition from talking about equity and inclusion to institutionalizing and operationalizing those concepts. In addition, she was an organizer with the Western North Carolina Racial Equity Collective and Keep It Moving Coalition, a regional group of volunteers who support ongoing learning, processing and collaboration across organizations to keep equity efforts alive throughout western North Carolina.

“Struggle is a never ending process. Freedom is never really won, you earn it and win it in every generation.” — Coretta Scott King

About Danae

Over 30 years, Danaé’s career trajectory has taken her from a political journalist to communication and messaging strategist to social/racial justice educator. She left her professional career for a few years to dedicate herself full-time to raising her young family, which prompted her to charter a local (Hampton Roads, VA) chapter of Mocha Moms, Inc., a national sisterhood, support and service organization for mothers of color. She now sits on the national Board of Directors as the National Director for Communication, Advocacy and Public Policy. She’s also served on the Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina, and Building Bridges of Asheville, the local anti-racism organization that brings together the community in a brave space to talk about race, racism, and how both show up in Asheville and the broader western North Carolina region. Today, Danaé lives in central Florida.
